[Taking a 6 y/o kid with autism to the bathroom]
Kid: [pokes his head out as he’s closing the stall door] Be patient there.
Me: I will.
Kid: [closes door] I will, too.
[minutes later]
Kid: [loudly] I all done! Wipe my butt!

[Been working on social skills with a kid, and especially practicing asking questions in conversation. We have our first group session (online) in months since we closed due to the pandemic.]
Me: What can we say to our friend?
Kid: How’s your weekend?
Me: Well, yes we’ve been practicing asking that. But we haven’t seen each other in a couple months! Do you know how he’s been doing this whole time?
Kid: How’s your COVID-19 weekend?
Me: Do you have a dog?
Kid: Yes.
Kid: Just one dog.
Kid: We don’t have two dogs.
Kid: Or 100.
[Playing dolls with a kindergartener]
Me: What are the mom and dad doing?
Kid: [putting them on the bed] Getting down.
Me: You mean sleeping?
Kid: Yeah.
